Use a comparative adjective + than to compare two people, places or things.

Examples
People live longer
People want to be more comfortable.
The offer is growing faster

Add –er to the end of short adjectives (one-syllable adjectives) to form the comparative.

• If the adjective ends in –e, just add –r
• If the adjective ends in –y, change –y to –ier.
• If the adjective has a consonant-vowel-consonant (CVC), double the consonant and add –er.

Use more before long adjectives (two or more syllables).

Some two-syllables adjectives are used with either –er or more to form the comparative.

Some adjectives have an irregular comparative form.

Good → better → far farther, further
Bad → worse
