These are some pictures of Rick, a 15-year-old boy from Missouri who invented a handy app called: “APPcident” which tells you about accidents around your route. This App will be launched next Friday.
Rick had the idea because he noticed there were too many accidents on his way from Kansas City to Higginsville when he visited his grandma every two weekends. He thinks the app will be used a lot by the people in Kansas.
To use the app, you just have to select your origin and destination and alert messages will be sent to your phone to let you know about the streets that might be closed due to accidents. A good feature is that you can add an accident as soon as you see to help others. An improvement that will be added is a one-touch connection with the emergency number (911) in case it’s you who had the accident.
The app will be launched all over in all the U.S. next Friday and it will be available for Apple and Android users. It will cost two dollars for a month and then the price will be raised up to five dollars. Most of Rick’s earnings will be saved in a special account and used when he goes to college.
